It is Sultan Suleiman II’s kaftan made of red satin. Kaftans which are believed to protect the wearer against malignancy and evil eyes, one of the imperial indicators which the Sultans highly esteem, whose surface means power and wisdom, just decree, strength and reliance, righteousness, goodness also stand for a royal reflection.
Silhouettes symbolizing Istanbul, Turkey, are placed in each of the crescent on the kaftan. It is created with ‘Akkase’ marbling for 12 times on the same paper, with one on the top of the other, including the surface.
