Thin Paper Carving

The art of cutting paper, has evolved all over the world for centuries. The carvings/cuttings have an important place in Turkish art of book ornamentation.

Cutting paper is the art of stenciling patterns into different kinds of paper or marbled paper, cutting with a small sharp knife and pasting on to another by using a special mixture and form a 3D effect without a use of a pencil, paint or ink. The motifs are cut out of paper with cutters without breaking of the connection spots.


Each detail of every figure were pasted together on a separate surface. It can be easily said that cutting paper is the most refined type or craft that requires great skill and even greater patience
